TSlim

I have been on the TSlim for 5 years and on pumps for 7. There are definite pros for being on the TSlim: I love not getting low at night regardless of the activity or eating that I have done throughout the day, meticulous carb counting is for the birds, I can start at 120 and end in-range after running for an hour+ (without eating while running), I can handle a pretty stressful career as a middle school science teacher without worrying if “stress highs” are going to end my life sooner, but, most of all, the ALGORITHM! Once you have a few different profiles set up, it is smooth sailing.

The cons include: relying on a medical device that I have to wear, infusion site issues, tubing (starting the MOBI soon so I will let you know how that goes), and the risk of ketoacidosis. I have learned over time, however, that most of my frustrations lie in actually being diabetic, which is not the pump’s fault.

All in all, it has improved my quality of life because I have greater time in range—generally 90% in range with few lows. I also have less mental burden which is the number one reason for me.
