How to love running, when you hate running.

  1. Commit just to 5 minutes—Don’t think about it and just do it. Even if you get out there for 5 minutes, try it and I guarantee you that you will eventually love/hate it

  2. Put your stuff by your alarm clock—Pick out your running clothes, including your socks, your sneakers, your hair tie, and put them right by your alarm. Your alarm should be across the room and not near your bed. You are up already—you might as well get out there!

  3. Do not sit after waking up! Get dressed right away in your workout clothes, down a glass of water and some coffee, put yourself in your correct pump profile, and hit the pavement or treadmill. Insert self-talk about what a badass you are!

  4. Listen to something great! Find a podcast or some music that motivates you or try the Nike Running Club—it is free and Coach Bennett may be the most motivational and positive person you have ever heard!

  5. Run or run/walk your brains out—fast, slow, uphill, downhill, in the dark, or at the gym and think about how people who do not even have a chronic illness are sleeping the day away! Nothing can stop you! No one is tougher or more amazing than you are!

  6. Be amazing today! Go to work and then ask for that raise. Don’t take no for an answer or (for teachers) let those teenagers boss you around! You started the day doing something that is just for you, and that armor is bulletproof!
